Urban Institute
The Policies for Action Research Hub at the Urban Institute is investigating a wide range of policy levers and cross-sector collaborations that are influencing health and well-being. The multidisciplinary research team is assessing how federal housing assistance programs, joint housing and health interventions, and food assistance policies can promote health. The Hub’s income-related work observes how the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and minimum wage policies affect the health of children and parents. It is also exploring the impact of the opioid epidemic on children, their families, and on child-serving systems (early childhood education, schools, child welfare, etc.). This project will narrow down some of the most critical dimensions, urgent challenges, and important nuances for policymakers and others, drawing on a review of the existing literature and a deeper dive into two states at the forefront of the opioid epidemic.
