Marina Del Rios
Marina Del Rios, MD, MS is an emergency physician and health services researcher with a special interest in epidemiology, use of social media for information dissemination, resuscitation science, social emergency medicine, and population health. She is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Carver College of Medicine of the University of Iowa and Adjunct Professor of Emergency Medicine at the College of Medicine of the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a "community interventionalist", she has received competitive funding from the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, Medtronic Philanthropy, and the Pritzker Traubert Family Foundation for programs aimed at addressing inequities in cardiovascular disease and increasing healthcare access. Dr. Del Rios has a deep commitment to service, spending her time outside of her clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities as a volunteer for multiple health and community service agencies. She serves as the Chair of the Science Subcommittee of the Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee of the American Heart Association. She is also serves as member of the advisory board of Illinois Unidos and she is a volunteer community CPR trainer with the Johnson County Rotary-Kerber HeartSafe campaign and Project Adam. She was the recipient of the 2023 University of Iowa Healthcare Culturally Responsive Health Care Award and the 2023 University of Iowa Discovery and Innovation Award for Advancing Understanding in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

The research will examine the impact of policies that preempt instruction on racial justice and health equity in Iowa school districts.
