Mother’s Day offers a moment to reflect on the systems and supports that shape the health of mothers in the United States. As part of our series on maternal health policy research, we began with a recent post on Black maternal health, and will later continue with an upcoming feature on Indigenous maternal health. We now turn to the unique challenges and trends affecting Hispanic/Latina women.

Medicaid is not just a budget line—it is a lifeline for maternal health, particularly for Black, Latino, and Indigenous communities. Proposed cuts to Medicaid could jeopardize the very solutions that are proven to save lives and advance maternal health equity.
