This project will evaluate the impact of New York City’s Promise NYC program, which provides childcare assistance to undocumented immigrant families, helping to address a critical gap in services for immigrant communities. By reducing the childcare burden, Promise NYC enables caregivers to pursue employment opportunities, improve family income stability, and integrate more fully into their communities. This study will explore the program’s effects on family dynamics, economic security, and social support, aiming to build an evidence base that could guide similar policy models in other urban centers.

Research Questions

  1. How does childcare access impact parental employment and economic outcomes?
  2. What are the social and health benefits for families receiving childcare support compared to those who do not?
  3. How does childcare access affect the overall well-being and community integration of undocumented families?

The researchers aim to provide policymakers with insights into how childcare support impacts immigrant families, contributing to broader conversations around policy solutions that strengthen family stability and economic inclusion in urban areas.
